Installing the ME1400 (PCI) Digital I/O Card

 Tip:

This card is not supported under Windows Vista or later.

The digital ME1400 (PCI) I/O card (Dionex part no. 5917.0020) supports 24 remote inputs and outputs, respectively, on TTL level. In Chromeleon, the card's 24 channels are alternatively configured as remote inputs or outputs (as blocks in groups of 8 inputs or outputs each).

Follow these steps to install the card:

  1. Install the Meilhaus hardware drivers. The latest drivers and a setup program for installing the drivers are available on the Meilhaus CD-ROM that is shipped with the card.

  2. Turn off the computer and install the card in a PCI slot. Use appropriate grounding protection to avoid electrostatic discharge, which may result in damage to electronic components.

  3. Install the Dionex Digital I/O PCI Board (ME1400) in the Server Configuration program under Sharable Devices. When you add the driver, the configuration dialog for the card opens automatically. For information about a page, click Help or press F1.

  4. On the General page, specify the PCI board number (for details about the PCI slot numbering, refer to the manual for the PC main board).

If you know the slot number, install the card using this number. If you do not know the slot number, enter any number and install the card. In the Audit Trail, a message states that no PCI card has been found in the indicated slot and also indicates slot number in which PCI card is installed. Re-install the card with this number.

  5. On the Port Configuration page, specify whether you want to use the ports as outputs or inputs. You can change the port type only if no other module in your instrument configuration is currently using this port.

  6.  Install the Shared Relays and Inputs driver. Select the timebase in which you want to install the driver, and then select Add Device on the Edit. Select Generic on the Manufacturers list and Shared Relays and Inputs on the Devices list.

  7. In the configuration dialog, add and assign the remote inputs and remote outputs as required. For information about the pin assignment, refer to the Meilhaus manual for the card.

 Note:

The connectors on the ME1400 and ME14 filler brackets are different. Therefore, cables that are suitable for the ME1400 card cannot be used with the ME14 card.
